PERFORMANCES 2016 – 2017

The Suffolk Center would like you to know that you are very important to us.  Celebrating our 10th birthday, the 2016-17 season has been programmed by you!  We conducted a survey, and in response to our community’s thoughts and suggestions we have customized this year’s schedule to reflect your great feedback.

Throughout the season we will be offering toe tapping concerts, fresh comedians, wonderful family entertainment, and a fantastic community theater show – Disney’s SHREK THE MUSICAL directed by our partner, Renee Perry Mitchell with rpm dance.   SHREK will present many opportunities for our local talent to shine on the Charlie Byrd Stage in our beautiful Birdsong Theater. We are also excited about our new Speaker Series, which includes Admiral William E. Gortney, US Navy, Retired, a presentation on Music & Medicine by Sentara Music and Medicine Center, and James Farmer, nationally renowned flower arranger and speaker. Put all of these programs on your calendar and visit our website often as we add programming throughout the year. You won’t want to miss them!

The Rock & Roll Jubilee is authentically and lovingly presented by Craig Evans, Brad Tucker (both of The Taters), Brian Sulser, George Garrett, Jim Wark and BJ Kocen. In this theatrical performance, the singers channel the spirits of the founding fathers of rock n’ roll, presented in the guise of a live 1958 broadcast on fictitious WJKS radio (“Where Joy Kills Sorrow”). In addition to the greatest songs ever written, The Jubilee includes 1950s period advertisements, skits and lots of laughs and surprises. You won’t want to miss this cavalcade of cool.
